Develop college-level research skills while working alongside university experts and completing an in-depth senior research project.

Montclair State University research symposium - Each winter, Lacordaire Academy seniors have the unique experience of working with Montclair State University’s Research and Instruction Librarian Theresa Corbin at the MSU library. As a specialist in library and information science, Corbin guides the seniors through how to develop their research topic, identify their thesis, understand peer-reviewed academic sources, and utilize databases for their research. Seniors learn how to understand the anatomy of a database record and use advanced search techniques within the databases. Finally, Corbin teaches the students how to create an annotated bibliography. Laco seniors are learning college-level skills and increasing their comfort level in a university academic environment while producing a 12-page research project by the end of the year.
