Joelle Walden ’27 Named National Merit Commended Student

Lacordaire Academy is proud to announce that Joelle Walden ’27 has been named a Commended Student in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Approximately 34,000 students nationwide are being recognized as Commended Students for their exceptional academic promise. Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2025 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
“Those being named commended students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success,” commented a spokesperson for NMSC. “These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation.”

Reflecting on this honor, Lacordaire’s Dean of Student Affairs Kaitlyn McFarlane shares: “Joelle is a gleaming example of a student who has truly spread her wings throughout her time at Lacordaire. Joelle has been a consistently high-achieving student who is dedicated to doing her best and doing right by the people around her.” McFarlane notes that Joelle has developed a strong foundation and a toolbox of skills that will support her future studies in college, as well as her career aspirations in biology and medicine. “We are so looking forward to all of the amazing things that are ahead for Joelle!”
