On Wednesday, January 7, Lacordaire Academy students competed in a forensics meet at St. Elizabeth University, hosted by the Essex County Steering Committee for Gifted and Talented Students, of which Lacordaire is a member. The meet brought together teams from roughly ten districts across Essex County, including Livingston, Roseland, Bloomfield, Belleville, and West Essex.
Lacordaire’s varsity forensics team earned first place overall, distinguishing itself in a highly competitive environment. The top finish reflected disciplined preparation, strong delivery, and consistent performance across both the varsity and junior varsity teams.
The team success was complemented by individual recognition. Seventh grader Lucy Mikula advanced as a finalist in the varsity division and placed second overall.
Throughout the meet, Lacordaire students demonstrated a strong sense of responsibility to one another. Our varsity competitors set aside their own practice time to work with younger teammates on the junior varsity team, running through pieces and offering constructive feedback. This culture of mentorship and shared effort continues to set Lacordaire students apart.
